ENVY now, so that you get it next year...!

“Those who ENVY tonight will have ENVY next year.” That is how Piyush Pandey, Executive Chairman and Creative Director, Ogilvy, South Asia, set the tone for the second Envies!
The event was attended by the who’s who of the ad-land and creative minds like Amit Trivedi, Prasoon Pandey and Ajay Chopra were also in attendance where they shared insights on creativity and more.

Amit Trivedi, being a composer, lyricist, musician and a singer himself feels that the current generation is more inclined towards western music. He believes that they follow a lot of it and miss out on our traditional notes and the classical music that India has. He also says that there a handful of bands in India who are doing Indian folk and music. He mentioned that, “People should start believing in Indian music to take it to a different level globally.” A small bit of advice that he gave the creative minds at Ogilvy was that ‘Piece of Mind’ is something that is important. He humorously concluded saying that “You know you have Piece of Mind only when you know you’ve had a good seven hour sleep!”

While Ajay Chopra, Executive Chef at Westin has a different perspective when it comes to talking about creativity in his field. He says it’s not just about decorating your dish; it’s also about how and with what ingredients you’re doing that. He says that if we had more creative minds in the country in his field, we would have had more Michelin star restaurants in India than what we currently have. When asked about having a work-life balance, a thoughtful Chopra stated, “If you enjoy what you work, then that is life for you!”

Ogilvy honcho Prasoon Pandey, has had creativity in and around him for years. Speaking of creativity in his work field, an optimistic Pandey states that though having seen global works, he connects with Indian advertisements the most. “In the ad world it’s very important to connect to all types of audiences that to just one nation. Creativity is like a fame of Zenga; either eliminate a couple of words to make it the best or add layers so that people keep discovering. That is the beauty of advertising people should uncover”, he stated. He also wants himself to discover challenges in his work and be more patient; like he said, “Ideas come after the first thing.”

Beginning on a highly positive note, Envies 2014 was yet another creative and freewheeling evening for all present at the gathering. With joy and happiness of winning, awards we also welcomed with tears of joy. Well, as they say, hard work does pay off! We at Adgully wish to extend our congratulations to all the winners.
