Equinox and Mudra join forces for Base Batteries new ad film

On 11th March, 2011, Base Batteries will be launching their new "hatke" ad film by Equinox with creatives by Mudra. The ad will feature the fictitious town of "Bijlipur" and their power related troubles.

Speaking to Aditya Arora, Head ' Marketing, Base Batteries, stated that being motivated by the power of this simple thought of "bijlipur", Base Batteries will be pushing forward an initiative where in Base will provide inverters as well as cover the maintenance for villages where power failure and power cuts are not uncommon. Explaining the motive for this initiative, he says, "We believe in running our organisation for our country."

This will also be a part of their expansion plans by reaching out to 100 cities across the country by the end of this year. This year they plan to set up a factory in Hosor, Tamil Nadu. Phase 1 of the plant will see investments of Rs. 432 crores which will make Base Batteries one of South East Asia's largest manufacturing facilities.

With the country going cricket crazy, this World Cup season Base Batteries has charged up pulse rates by announcing a sponsorship agreement with the Cricket Canada. Base Batteries is powered by Base Corporation, a fully owned Indian company. Base Batteries is an emerging leader in the energy sector.

During the World Cup Tournament, all the players of Canadian Cricket team along with the Coach and support staff will be seen sporting the Base Batteries logo on their jerseys. Apart from that they will also have the Base logo on their training jerseys.

After defeating Kenya in the last match, the Canadian team is all set to take on New Zealand. With the frontline bowlers like Osinde and Baidwan getting into form and the hard hitting Rizwan Cheema, the Canadian team is expected to add some more flavors to both taking down wickets and scoring runs.

Girish Arora, Managing Director, Base Batteries said, "We are really proud to be associated with the Canadian cricket team. This is a new beginning towards associating Base Batteries with sports and our long term plans for developing and nurturing budding cricketing talent in India."

Announcing the partnership, Arora said, "As an emerging player in the energy industry, Base Batteries are delighted to associate with Cricket Canada. The rising Cricket fever during the world cup will only add more excitement to it further electrifying the cricket frenzy nation and we are confident that this tie up will offer a huge platform to create visibility for brand "Base" Batteries through on-ground cricket action while magnifying the impact by reaching out to larger audience through various media platforms". He adds, "Base is proud to power the Canadian World Cup team."

Arora comments that even though the sport is the same with regards to IPL and the World Cup the platform is different. From an advertiser's point of view the World Cup has certain norms that need to be followed that keep the game at interest where as IPL has no such rules in that field.

Arora adds that the World Cup gives Base Batteries a platform to announce their comeback and build themselves as an international brand.

Speaking on the occasion Ranjit Saini, President Cricket Canada, said "It is exciting to be able to carry a valued brand such as Base Batteries into a major tournament like the World Cup and we are proud to showcase their brand over the next few weeks. Their investment will not only support our team on the field but will allow us to invest in key areas in the organization as well. This caps off an extremely successful few months for cricket Canada where we have been able to attract several partners to support many facets of our organization".

The Canadian cricket team has gained widespread popularity and critical acclaim during the last World Cups and its recent stellar performance against England and Pakistan at the World Cup where players like Ashish Bagai and Rizwaan Cheema showcased their breathtaking talent, exquisite technique and unique charisma. | By Vanessa Azavedo [vanessa(at)adgully.com]
