Exclusive | Oomph factor of 2013 KF Calendar Girls, reveals UB's Sheikhawat

The Kingfisher Calendar Girl is poised for another season of excitement. Kingfisher Premium and NDTV Good Times sometime back announced an interesting panel of host cum judges for season four, enhancing the exhilaration quotient around the ‘Hunt’.

On the occasion, Adgully caught up with Samar Singh Sheikhawat, Senior Vice President Marketing, United Breweries Ltd to learn some more about the ‘Kingfisher Calendar Girl’ this time.

The biggest surprise and exciting announcement for this edition was the news of Siddharth Mallya – the charming Mallya heir, making his debut on the small screen as a host and judge of the Hunt for the Kingfisher Calendar Girl 2013. Sharing the screen space would be another big name Lisa Haydon who is a super model cum actor and former Kingfisher Calendar girl.

On asking about any specific reason for the same, Sheikhawat said, “The entire motive is to make the show a little more younger, appealing and glamorous. I guess choosing Siddharth and Lisa is the best decision because they are perfect youth face of our show. Lisa is a perfect mix of beauty and brains with urban appeal whereas Siddharth being young, dashing represents the new Kingfisher face.”

He says, “Kingfisher calendar is one of the most desired fashion properties and is one of the special calendars that money cannot buy. One has to be in Dr. Mallya’s personal invitation list to get the Calendar. It is highly aspirational and huge brand property which drives a clear imagery of fun, excitement and style. It has been an introductory platform for many names who are one of the popular faces in the film industry now like Yana Gupta, Deepika padukone and many more.”

“It’s an amazing spring bowl to showcase talent and that’s why it is growing bigger and better every year,” he added.

What could a viewer expect the new panel of judges? He says, “It is going to be a more crisp show this year. It’s a half an hour show with 40 episodes. This time you will find newer obstacles, new ways to test the girls; not only for their physical abilities but for their presence of mind as well.”

Speaking about the plans to take it ahead in various other countries, Sheikhawat said, “In a way if you see it has already reached overseas because all the shooting is done overseas; I should say all over the world. But being specific, the Calendar downloads are available over the world. A lot of activities would be seen on facebook regarding the Calendar with Hungama which gives a lot of push to it.”

Adding further to his point, he told us that apart from all this they have set their operations in USA, Australia, UK and so on and so forth and the Calendar is sent overseas as well.

12 girls, 8 weeks and 3 celebrity judges, who will succumb to the pressure and who will survive the trials and tribulations of this sturdy competition are yet to be seen. The show will air from Monday-Friday, 29th October onwards, that is today at 10.30 PM on NDTV Good Times.

This year the theme of the show would revolve around “Fantasy”. Girls will be styled and groomed to match the theme with high definition make ups & accessories. Tasks such the Mermaid task, Boot camp task, Elephant task, Talent, Cage task and props used during the show will also reflect the theme. The current edition of the show will be shot across picturesque locations of Goa. 12 lucky contestants will dive into different avatars and challenges, in a bid for a spot on the coveted Kingfisher Calendar. | By Aanchal Kohli[aanchal@adgully.com]
