Facebook app for Xbox karaoke game Lips

Xbox makers are taking social media as a marketing platform to a different plane altogether. Xbox announced its karaoke game, Lips, and is coming together with Facebook to promote it. the marketing activity has resulted in a Facebook application being developed for the game.

The Lips karaoke game app can be previewed and shared with Facebook users in their video sections as well as their profile. Lips was developed by iNiS.

Created by AKQA, the Facebook application is hosted on Xbox. It works by making use of facial recognition technology and after combining it with Facebook Connect function, it gives an impression of a Facebook user singing along as the song is played. The user can also sing along with his/her buddies. User is only required to choose a song and select the photos of the friends from their Facebook photo albums and add singing lips to the people's face. This creates an animated effect of the person singing. A personalised music video can be made out of this.

Michael Flatt, director of advertising at Xbox EMEA, said: "Lips is all about fun, sociable, shared singing experiences. With Lips Jukebox, AKQA has created a brilliantly unique, naturally shareable extension of that, which we believe will bring the part of playing Lips to a wide and varied audience."
