Facebook, Twitter yet to comply with 'social media intemediaries' guidelines: Reports

According to media reports, social media platforms, Facebook and Twitter have yet to comply with Government guidelines for ‘social media intermediaries’. The Government had announced these guidelines on 25 February and had provided a 3-month compliance window that ends on 25 May.

The reports stated that if the government does not receive a compliance report by May 25 then the social media platforms would have forfeit their status as an intermediary as per the rules notified. This may has serious consequences including legal immunity. A person or entity who is unhappy with the content posted on these platforms can take both the publisher and the platform to court.
