Feeding India by Zomato joins hands with Akshaypatra

Feeding India by Zomato, in collaboration with Akshayapatra, is expanding its school feeding program (Poshan to Pathshala) to government schools. The program has been launched in four cities - Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Dehradun and Bangalore - and will provide one meal daily to 38,410 beneficiaries. A total of 486 schools have been included in the program, with 171 in Gorakhpur, 144 in Varanasi, 88 in Dehradun and 83 in Bangalore.

Feeding India is a large-scale social impact organisation designing interventions to reduce hunger and malnutrition in the country. Since joining hands with Zomato, Feeding India has served 13+ crore meals and was at the forefront of emergency relief work during the Covid-19 pandemic. Under the Poshan to Pathshala Program,  Feeding India provides food to children in low-income schools. Their overarching goal under this initiative is for all children to receive adequate nutrition in their formative years,  ensuring holistic development.

The collaboration with Akshayapatra has been motivated by their stellar work in feeding programs, especially targeting school-going children, over the past two decades.

Anant Arora, Chief Sustainability & Communication Officer at Akshayapatra said, "Today, we start a new chapter in this successful relationship with Feeding India by Zomato pledging their support to sponsor 35 lakh meals to school children over the next year. We are truly grateful for their generosity and constant support. Such partnerships in our social sector are the need of the hour."

Highlighting the significance of this initiative and the rationale for supporting Akshayapatra, Vishal Kumar, CEO of Feeding India by Zomato, said, "Our mission is to improve food security and alleviate malnutrition across India. Collaborating with stellar organisations like Akshayapatra is an important part of this mission, and it is essential for such organisations to come together and build impactful programs creating a better future for the children of our country."

Feeding India is also gearing up for the Zomato Feeding India Concert featuring Post Malone and other prominent artists and impact makers, all set to happen in Mumbai on December 10th to raise awareness around malnutrition in the country. They continue to run more relevant programs like Daily Feeding Program and actively seek more NGOs to join them in their fight against malnutrition and assist our country's journey towards Zero Hunger by 2030 and United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal adopted by the central government.
