Filmmaker launched Debut Book

Recently, Harlequin India launched its book ‘Dancing with Demons’ by Nidhie Sharma. It was also announced that this book is soon going to be made into a film by Imagik Media and Productions and Dreamcatchers. While the book was scripted in such a way that it could be made into an action packed movie, Nidhie is really excited about the success of the book and the movie.

The book is based on the life of a boxer where, the role of boxer Karan Pratap Singh will be played by action star Arunoday Singh seen in successful films like Yeh Saali Zindagi, Jism 2 and more recently Main Tera Hero. The hunt for the female lead is underway. The book has garnered great early reviews and many are calling it “engaging, entertaining, and hard to put down”, some reviewers have even called it the “The best love story read this year” and “visually stunning”.

Dancing with Demons is India’s first novel romantic drama set in the world of boxing. Written evocatively, it captures the story of boxer Karan Pratap Singh’s fall from grace and his eventual rise after he faces his inner demons from the past. Aided by the beautiful and volatile Sonia in his quest for redemption, Karan finds his courage but loses his heart.

Renowned Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra said that, “It’s a really well written book, besides being a story. I recommend everyone to read the book because the experience of reading and that of words is a different experience than what one sees in adopted version as a movie. Well I really hope the book is a success.”

Somewhere is it unfortunate that the audience is shifting from reading books to watching their movie version, but this trend cannot be changed. “While watching a movie is a more passive act, reading a book is a more active one,” adds Mishra.

Harlequin India Country Head, Amrita Chowdhury, says “Nidhie has woven a stunning, fast moving love story of broken dreams and the desire to make them come true again. The characters leap off the pages. Drama, action, romance, and humour- this story has it all. No wonder, the book has already been slated to be made into a film.”

Commenting on the book Nidhie said that, “I’m really looking forward for the book to be a success. You will love the crackling relationship between its tempestuous anti hero and its volatile anti-heroine.”

Speaking about the movie, Nidhie adds that, “Boxing is a metaphor for hope and resurrection in this film. Arunoday who has been a really good friend will be the male lead in this movie, while we are still looking for the perfect fit of the female character.”

When asked about why she chose Arunoday, Nidhie said that, “The character is of a boxer and Arunoday is the perfect face for the same.” On an ending note she inaugurated this official announcement by giving Arunoday Singh a pair of boxing gloves.
