Five evocative dialogues of Jyotika that will stay with us forever

Her characters have been engraved in our nostalgia over the years after she created a remarkable presence in cinema with her deeply felt performances. Awaiting Jyotika's 50th film, Udanpirappe, which will release on Amazon Prime Video on October 14th, let’s take quick glance at some of her popular dialogues that will stay in our memories for a long time.

  • Kushi - Confrontation scenes: One of the most endearing confrontation scenes that nobody could deny. Her wrangle with Siva starting with the dialogue “Nee pathadu naa pathen” translating to “l saw that you saw” when she catches Vijay staring at her; leaps into the minds of people when one spells the title of the movie. She being the queen of expressions and dialogue delivery puts a wow on everyone’s faces.
  • Kaakha Kaakha - Maya’s proposal: She played one of the first woman characters, who swayed away from the concept of the man being the first to propose. She expressed her love for Anbuselvan (Suriya) and finishing the dialogue with “Oru ponnu irundah daan puriyum” (You will understand if you were a girl) as she poured her heart out to Anbuselvan confessing her feelings. It still makes audiences adore the scene to date.
  • 36 Vayadhinile - A wife’s conversation with her husband: “Who decides the expiry date to a woman’s dream” was a question that garnered immense applause from the audience as it mirrored today’s reality. The intensity in Jyotika’s voice as she questions her husband left everyone inspired with a lingering thought in mind as the film ended.
  • Chandramukhi - Climax: There’s no doubt that Jyotika’s portrayal as Chandramukhi is considered one of her career-defining performances. When she came on-screen and said “Nene Chandramukhi”, still gives goosebumps everytime one sees the film.
  • Kaatrin Mozhi- The Hello: One “Hello” from Viji was enough for the rest of the characters in the film to fall for her. Jyotika’s alluring style of saying hello was a laughter-riot for the audiences. Jyotika as the quirky and extrovert Viji won countless hearts.

Catch Jyotika’s 50th milestone film, Udanpirappe (Raktha Sambandham in Tamil) only on  Amazon Prime Video, this festive season, on 14th October 2021.
