Ford teams up with Red Bull to return to Formula One in 2026

With a tie-up with world champions Red Bull, Ford will return to Formula One in 2026 after more than two decades.
Ford announced a "long-term strategic technological relationship" to develop the next-generation hybrid power unit, which will be used in Formula 1 starting in 2026. Up until at least 2030, the Red Bull and Alpha Tauri teams would receive power units from them. Ford last participated in Formula One in 2004 when they teamed up with Jordan; their return is another indication of how popular the sport is becoming in the US.
There will be three Grand Prix races in the United States this year, with Las Vegas joining Miami and Austin. Since Netflix's hit series 'Drive to Survive' enjoyed huge success, F1 has enjoyed huge popularity in the country. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has won the past two drivers’ titles in F1 and the Honda-powered team is the defending constructors’ champions.
