FOX History & Traveller emerges as leader in the travel genre

FOX History & Traveller (FHT) has emerged market leader in the genre, according to recent TAM ratings. A key player in the English entertainment space, FHT recently shifted focus on travel based content, which is edgier and aimed at young adults.

The channel introduced fresh programming that accentuates the essence of travel. Unlike regular travel shows that are centered on destinations only, the shows on FHT focus on the fun element attached to travel, the experiences and the people. The channel also increased its focus on locally produced content to engage better with the viewers as well as offer enhanced integration opportunities to its advertising partners. Popular shows on the channel are hosted by youth icons and vivacious actors as Indrani Dasgupta, Sugandha Garg ("What's with Indian men?'), Purab Kohli ("Life Mein Ek Baar'), Gaurav Kapoor ("Freaky Traveller') to name a few. Besides there is a dedicated travel or holiday band that encapsulates interesting local and international shows; yet again taking an unconventional look at travel.

Speaking about the channel's performance, Debarpita Banerjee, Vice President ' Marketing, FOX International Channels India, said, "FOX History & Traveller aimed at redefining travel to reflect how youth defines it - emphasizing on a plethora of experiences, and enjoying the journey more than being in a hurry to get to a destination. The fact that we have acquired the status of a market leader in the genre, speaks volumes about the success of our rebranding exercise. Our new and refreshing content has appealed to our target audience and this has only encouraged us to do better. This is one space to watch for more exciting shows down the year."

Fox History & Traveller currently enjoys a 36% market share in the Travel & Lifestyle genre over the past 4 week period, with TLC and NDTV Good Times at 28% each while Travel XP has an 8% market share.*
