G Krishnan bids adieu to TV Today Network!

G Krishnan, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, TV Today Network has bid adieu to the network that runs news channels like Aaj Tak, Headlines Today, Delhi Aaj Tak and Tej. Krishnan, who has more than 25 years of experience, was instrumental in launching the channel Aaj Tak.

Highly placed sources inform Adgully that an internal mail was sent across to the employees suggesting that his resignation will be effective from September 1 and all department heads who reported to Krishnan will now report to Aroon Purie, Chairman & Managing Director, TV Today Network.

Krishnan,holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, and a Master's degree in Business Administration. His career started with the Economic Times in 1978 in Kolkata, and in 1983, he shifted base to Mumbai. During his tenure at the TOI (The Times of India), he launched Times FM, India's first private FM channel, in 1993.

Later in 1995 Krishnan shifted to Delhi, and joined TV Today, which was a production company then. At TV Today, he launched Aaj Tak, a 20-minute show on Doordarshan. Later, the broadcast company produced several other shows during the Budget and Elections of 1997 for both channels -- DD and DD Metro in English and Hindi. Gradually in 2000, Krishnan established Aaj Tak into a full-fledged 24-hour Hindi news channel. The launch of the channel was followed with the launch of other news channels of the Group --Headlines Today, Delhi Aaj Tak and Tej, from the group.
