The burgeoning gaming industry in India is creating an all new ecosystem. Various industry reports show the tremendous growth potential of this industry. According to a Deloitte report, with a share of 13% of the global gaming sessions, India is among the top five gaming markets in the world.

The entire pandemic period has seen an accelerated adoption of online gaming in India, with the average time spent on mobile phones reaching 4.1 hours during the lockdown period from 2.5 hours in the pre-COVID-19 era. This growth phenomenon is not confined to the lockdown period alone, as the Deloitte report states that 40 million more online gamers are expected to join the fray in India during 2020−22. By the middle of 2020, Indian gamers stood at a formidable 400 million, according to a KPMG report.

Naturally, the growth potential has attracted a lot of advertisers and investors. Maple Capital Advisors estimates that the Indian gaming sector received an investment of $544 million during August 2020-January 2021 period.
