Getty Images strengthens its leadership in India!

Getty Images, one of the world’s leading digital media companies, is pleased to announce the appointment of Nitin Lakhotia to the new position of Director, India. In this role, Nitin will lead the India team and is also tasked with identifying and developing growth opportunities beyond Getty Images’ core traditional customer base. Nitin’s appointment is part of Getty Images’ plan to enhance its Asia Pacific presence as well as its ability to serve customers in India and worldwide with a greater choice of innovative and inspiring content. The business is currently recruiting to further strengthen its team, ensuring Getty Images India remains at the forefront of existing and future customers’ needs.

Nitin brings over 15 years of experience across business consulting, telecom and media verticals, joining Getty Images from IMG’s consulting business in India, which he established in 2008. At IMG, he initiated consultancies in the public sector, real estate, tourism, naming rights and sponsorship. Nitin’s experience also includes consolidating and growing businesses for Tata Teleservices, Reliance Infocomm, Bharti Airtel and ESPN Star Sports.

"As the demand for engaging content grows, Getty Images is continually evolving to provide fresh, locally-relevant imagery, video and music, and to support its customers in the Indian region with effective content management and delivery tools,” said Glenn Parker, Vice President of Sales, Asia Pacific at Getty Images.

“Nitin brings a tremendous combination of experience, industry knowledge and energy to the team, and will play an integral role in the strengthening of Getty Images in India as we broaden our focus on India’s burgeoning media sector.”

Getty Images is a leading creator and distributor of still imagery, video and multimedia products. Through its portfolio of properties, including iStockphoto and Thinkstock, Getty Images uploads 40,000 new images daily and serves customers in more than 200 countries. Its content offering includes 26 million images online; 70 million in archive; and more than 1.3 million creative and editorial video clips.

Getty Images is the official partner to more than 50 sports governing bodies, leagues and clubs, including the International Olympic Committee, FIFA, UEFA, Manchester United and many other English premier league clubs.

Getty Images opened doors in Mumbai in December 2011 following the acquisition of creative stills provider Photolibrary, and has since expanded with a second office in New Delhi. Nitin’s appointment follows the announcement in February this year of Pradeep Mittur joining in the new role of Head of Business Development, Asia Pacific, tasked with rolling out Getty Images’ API, Connect, as well as content acquisition and localisation initiatives. Getty Images is committed to strengthening its presence in India and the wider Asia Pacific region, with offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Dubai and soon Taipei.

Nitin will be based in Mumbai and will report to Glenn Parker, Vice President of Sales for Asia Pacific.
