GoaFest 2011- Industry leaders speak on the 'Joy of Giving'

GoaFest 2011 had a special initiative to talk about this time, with all the fun and frolic the ad fest announced its association with the Joy of Giving Week. This initiative was initiated so as to give back to the society as an industry.  

The initiative is not run by any organisation and is about giving voluntarily to people who are less fortunate. The idea was to create events in that particular week of October 2-8. As a part of this association every inustry leader came up post a session of knowledge seminar to speak about what are they doing organisationally or individually for the Joy of Giving Week. The idea was to get more of the industry to take part in it. 

Colvyn Harris, CEO, JWT India, said that as a part of the Joy of Giving week, whenever there is a disaster anywhere in the world, JWT contributes to the affected country and which will continue. However on the personal front he added, “I am happy to mentor ten people of our industry for senior leadership positions. Not only for JWT but its open for the whole industry. I will commit personal time and I promise that I will get you to that position.” 

Ajay Chandwani, Director, Percept Ltd. elaborated on how they as an organisation try to highlight issues related to the environment and create awareness. He also added that he and his wife help improve tribal artisans life and create a platform for them. 

Sam Balsara, Chairman & Managing Director, Madison World, said, “I think it is a wonderful idea, I think all of us know to recieve well and now we should learn to know the pleasure of giving. The pleasure that one gets in giving far far exceeds than the pleasures of recieving. I think this initiative will help sentisise our industry to giving back to the society.”
