Goafest 2022 Day 2: An ode to The SuperPower Within

After an exhilarating start on Day 1 of Goafest 2022, Day 2 kicked off with the Knowledge Seminar by MX Player with a line-up of the inspiring and insightful speakers. Dishing out spectacular rollout of events, ranging from knowledge seminars to leadership summits, the day's energy just kept rising from one session to another, filled with wisdom, knowledge, creativity and innovation.

MX Player’s Knowledge Seminars commenced with P V Sindhu, India's No.1 Badminton Player & Two-Time Olympic Medal Winner in conversation with Sameer Kochchar, TV Presenter, Actor and Anchor. The session took the audience through several aspects of PV Sindhu’s career, personal journey, tournaments and all that is in store for 2022.

The following session a knowledge seminar on ‘OTT Superpower – Freedom and Nuances of Creativity’, with Vikrant Massey, Artist; Ali Fazal, Artist and Gautam Talwar, Chief Content Officer, MX Player, moderated by Atika Farooqui, Anchor and Creative Director. This discussion entailed facets of how OTT changed the lives of not only the audience but also of creators.

Next up was Disney Star’s Knowledge Seminar with Sam Glassenberg, Founder & CEO of Level Ex shed light on the potential of video games and how brands can reach audiences through this medium. He also spoke of the perils of gamification versus the importance of emphasis on real game design.

The second half of the day began with singer, Shilpa Rao, singing melodies to woo the crowds and raise the temperature at the festival.      

Thereafter, Disney Star’s Knowledge Seminars showcased Menno Kluin - Chief Creative Officer, Dentsu Creative USA, who spoke on Collaborative Creativity: Technology, Craft, People, providing the audience with a practical guide to creativity and ways to become a great creative department. He said, "It is important to start with the problem statement, then build the machine with an environment with great leadership and mindset as it determines the outcome, and finally, build up your people and play the confidence game."

Followed by a session that the audience was eagerly waiting for - Kapil Dev, Legendary Cricketer in conversation with Charu Sharma, Sports Broadcaster & Entrepreneur. The exchange brought up numerous poignant topics like styles of leadership and what it is to be a leader, the criticality of self-belief and self-love, the need for commitment while working in a team, and much more. Kapil Dev shared some delightful anecdotes of playing with the team in 1983.

Soon after that heartfelt and stimulating conversation, it was time for Times Network’s Leadership Summit with Rahul Shivshankar, Editor-in-Chief & Editorial Director – Times Now who underscored the significance of leadership, while having the courage of conviction. He strongly recommended that a leader must stand for public interest at all costs.

The Leadership Summit went on to an interesting session with Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon' Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Navika Kumar, Group Editor, Times Network & Editor In Chief, Times Now, Navbharat on the current political system and the codependence of press and politics. Mr. Puri said, "Press and politics cannot exist on their own. One needs the other. They also need to consider each other's perspective."

Later, an enthralling conversation was witnessed by the delegates between two stalwarts of the Indian film industry - one a recipient of the Padma Shri Award and a visionary Indian filmmaker, SS Rajamouli and award-winning international actor, author & motivational speaker, Anupam Kher. Interestingly, the dialogue focused on their personal journeys to becoming a part of the film fraternity. The conversation began with Anupam Kher questioning SS Rajamouli about his ideation process, to which he said that he keeps thinking about it all the time. He wonders, often, how he would bring an idea alive on the big screen. The discussion also revolved around their beginnings and how it contributed to their being, retaining humility and happiness in the face of trying times.

Parallelly, throughout the day, Master Classes were organised with presenters from Sharechat, Google, Snapchat, and Meta. These classes focused on topics like how the creator economy is driving brand success, how to appeal to consumers in a cool new way by taking part in Shorts@Goa, the power of camera marketing, and Instagram for Business - A spotlight on creator & reels.

The evening wrapped up in time for Abby One Show Awards by Sony LIV and Abby One Show Awards by Pixis. A total of 32 Broadcaster ABBYs, 19 Design & Design Craft ABBY’s, 40 Digital & Digital Craft ABBYs, 31 Direct ABBYs, 7 Mobile ABBYs, and 32 Public Relations, 16 Technology ABBYs, were awarded tonight.

Well, that brought us to the end of yet another eventful day at Goafest 2022 coupled with a gala dinner and after-hours party with DJ Zulfi!
