Godrej Appliances encourages choosing eco-friendly air conditioners
Godrej Appliances, business unit of Godrej & Boyce - the flagship company of the Godrej Group, in its latest World Environment Day campaign, appeals to consumers to shift to eco-friendly home appliances such as - Air Conditioners with R290 refrigerant that has the least impact on global warming; thereby preserving the planet against the growing climate crisis.
With summer temperatures soaring higher each year and several parts of the country experiencing heat waves, ACs can no longer be deemed a luxury and are becoming must haves to get relief from the extreme heat. What many consumers might not know is - to lower the room’s temperature, every air conditioning system uses a refrigerant – which are of different types, each having an impact on the environment. It is important for consumers to be mindful of the global warming potential (GWP) of the refrigerant used in their AC. R290 is the most eco-friendly AC refrigerant with a GWP of just 3, and ozone depletion potential of 0. Other refrigerants like R410a have a much more adverse Global warming potential of 1800 or higher.
The digital campaign features a child as the protagonist- representing our future generations, along with birds and animals who co-exist in our planet, all emphasising on the importance of greener R290 refrigerant in air-conditioners and urging people to switch to a greener choice. The message being communicated is aligned with the World Environment Day theme ‘One Earth’ proposed by The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to encourage people to take action and protect the environment.
Speaking on the campaign Swati Rathi, Head-Marketing, Godrej Appliances said, “Amongst the various appliances that make life easier for consumers, the one with the largest environmental footprint is the Air Conditioner and hence, must be the first area for focused sustainability-oriented action. Godrej Appliances, a truly environment conscious brand, is the first and only appliances company in India, to be manufacturing R290 refrigerant based ACs. Building on the #LetsStartRight content series further, this short video is an attempt to educate people about how a simple act of choosing the right refrigerant in Air Conditioners can make a major difference in combating global warming."
The video conceptualized by CreativeLand Asia, will be released on World Environment Day on social media and ecommerce platforms. Commenting on this, Anu Joseph, Chief Creative Officer, Creativeland Asia said, “Probably, the whole planet is asking us to change our attitude towards the environment. Probably, if we listen carefully enough, we can hear little messages from birds and animals around us. That’s the premise of this simple film for Godrej Appliances for their R290 refrigerant-based Air Conditioners.”
