Godrej Consumer Products elevates Somasree Bose Awasthi as CMO

Godrej Consumer Products has elevated Somasree Bose Awasthi as chief marketing officer. She has been promoted from the post of head of marketing, homecare category, to chief marketing officer. She has been with Godrej Consumer for around 18 years.

She also started the direct-to-consumer channel for GCPL for the first time with brand Cinthol, Godrej Aer, and Goodness Me, which is Godrej's GCPL’s first online-only brand. She has led some of the highly successful breakthrough product innovation launches like Godrej Aer Pocket (in the air freshener space), Cinthol Deo stick, and HIT Antiroach gel, while delivering award-winning marketing campaigns.

More recent new product launches for her have been the entire male grooming range under Cinthol powder-to-liquid handwash under Godrej Protekt, Mr. Magic, Good knight Gold flash-liquid vaporizer. She has won integrated marketing campaign and product innovation on HIT in Effies in two consecutive years, 2012 & 2013, and also won the best brand award for consecutive years 2017, 2018, 2019 on brands Godrej Aer, Godrej No1, and Cinthol, respectively, in a ceremony held across Godrej Group.

She has been featured among the 26 who made it to the Economic Times Women Ahead 2017 list and won the Women Super Achiever Award at the fifth world Women Leadership Congress Awards 2018. In a row, for two years she was featured in impact top 50 most influential women in marketing and media.

In her previous role, she was leading the marketing for the homecare category, which includes brands like Good Knight, HIT, which are market leaders in the household insecticides segment, Godrej Aer, which is the market leader in the air fresheners segment, Godrej Ezee, and Genteel in fabric detergents category. She has also launched Godrej ProClean, a home hygiene brand. She joined Godrej as a management trainee in 2003, initially as part of Sara Lee's business.
