Google to train Indian journalists

In order to help journalists fight fake news, Google has started on a Google News Initiative Training Network in India in partnership with BoomLive, DataLeads and Internews.

Over the next one year, the training network will provide an in-depth and verification training to 8000 journalists across English and six other Indian languages.

200 journalists will be selected from cities across India. The program will be a five day train-the-trainer boot camp. Journalists will be trained by fact-checkers like First Draft, Storyful, AltNews, BoomLive, Factchecker.in and DataLeads.

Across India in various cities the training workshops will be conducted in English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu and Kannada.
