Haptik integrates its Chatbot in TOI App; enables a transactional assistant

Haptik, a leading artificial intelligence-based personal assistant and chatbot platform, has integrated its Chatbot in the Android application of The Times of India.

The integration will enable Times Internet, which already has a 51 per cent market share in user engagement, to inform, engage and enable its users by incorporating the leading virtual personal assistant service in the TOI App. With the Haptik virtual assistant, it is for the first time that users of a news app will be able to set reminders, recharge their mobiles and make payments (DTH and electricity), book flights, book cabs (Uber and Ola), do web check-ins, make to-do lists, pay through the app via Amazon Pay and much more.

To access the Personal Assistant, users need to tap the hand icon at the top right of the home screen, validate the mobile number and then choose one of the many services that the virtual assistant provides.

Commenting on the launch, Aakrit Vaish, Founder & CEO, Haptik, said, “Over the last few years, the Haptik virtual assistant chat platform has grown to millions of users and is one of the highest rated apps in India. Our vision is that the service should be accessible from anywhere people want, and not just be restricted to a single app. Integrating into a news app is a natural fit, and the audience of TOI is exactly the type who will appreciate the service.”

Sprite is the official brand partner for this launch. In addition, Amazon Pay is running a launch offer, offering 50 per cent cash back on recharges. Users can expect many more features to be enabled on this platform in the coming days.

Puneet Gupt, COO & Business Head, The Times of India, said, “We see a real opportunity to save both individuals and small businesses time and money by increasing overall productivity and management tasks less tedious and more simplified.”

Users can download the Times of India app on their smartphone or upgrade to the latest version with the virtual assistant from the Google Store.

It may be noted here, that in April 2016, Times Internet led a Series B round of investment in Haptik, making it one of the most well funded independent chatbot companies in the world.
