Hard work pays: Actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui

He is not just a talented actor but a great theatre artist. Last year at the 60th National Film Awards, he was honoured and awarded with the Special Jury Award for his contributions to the films Kahaani, Gangs of Wasseypur, Dekh Indian Circus and Talaash.

On working for Bollywood’s some of the major films like Black Friday (2004), New York (2009), Peepli Live (2010), Kahani (2012), Gangs of Wasseypur 1&2 (2012) and his recently released films Aatma, he says, “It’s all result of my struggle that I did for years.”

Remembering his days, he said, “I had done several  kinds of work to reach where I am today. I even worked as watchman for some time and yes I’ve learnt a lot with kind of jobs that I’ve done in past.”

“I’ve also been rejected several times as an actor but my passion kept it alive.”

He started off his career in Bollywood with Sarfarosh (1999) but got recognition with Peepli Live (2010) where he played a small role of a journalist.

“I always wanted to do a role which suits me, my persona and that was one reason that after Sarfarosh, I waited for a long time.”

On asking further about the scripts that interests him more he said, “I believe in doing films which has originality in it and connects with the audience easily. My recent films like Kahani, Gangs of Wasseypur were based on such storylines which a person can bond with easily.”

His first film for this year ‘Aatma’ released recently and now he is waiting for release of his forthcoming films Mountain Man, Dekh Indian Circus and Bombay Talkies which are said to be releasing next month.
