Hero Motorcorp's GAMING OLYMPIAD records over 4 mn plays

Keeping in mind the Olympics’ fever and the craze among the online gamers Zapak, India’s largest free-to-play casual gaming destination, created the Olympiad zone in partnership with Maxus and Hero Motocorp.

The Zone witnessed heavy traction and has registered over 4 million plays on web and 1, 90, 000 launcher downloads on mobile within the first 3 weeks of its launch. The Olympiad zone was based on the London 2012 Olympic Games.

‘GAMING OLYMPIAD’ featured four games – Field Hockey, Hurdles Run, King of the Ring and Table Tennis Pro. A leader board was created by Zapak, for gamers to track their points and ranking in the competition. The winner of each game was awarded a bike by Hero Motocorp. In addition to the contest, Maxus used social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to engage gamers by feeding live updates and making exclusive content accessible to them.

Commenting on the success of the activity, Unny Radhakrishnan, National Director, Maxus India said, “The success of the Gaming Olympiad campaign has been tremendous and I am thrilled to see such response from our TG. Hero is an iconic brand and has always been associated with various sporting events. Olympics being the biggest among all sporting events in the world was a perfect fit to engage our TG. Hero’s core TG is youth, who are enthusiastic about sports and technologically updated, so Zapak was an ideal platform for this activity.”

Delighted with the response of the game, Deepak Abbot, Product Head, Reliance Entertainment Digital said, “Zapak launched Gaming Olympiad in the best interest of online casual gamers. The gaming zone was conceived to give users a feel of participating in a virtual Olympic competition. When we launched the property, our target was to achieve 2 million plays, which is half of what it has actually aggregated. I am certain that this phenomenal response will mark the beginning of a new trend in online gaming.”

Observing the current involvement of youth in sports, Hero Motocorp’s Spokesperson said, “Hero has always celebrated sports. This year has witnessed an unprecedented interest in Olympic Games. We wanted our target group to experience the thrill of London Olympics by being a part of it through the virtual medium. Partnering with Zapak’s Gaming Olympiad was our way of keeping the spirit of Olympics alive.”

In addition to the gaming competition the Olympic Zone also features live updates, pictures, etc. from the London games to keep the users engaged on the platform.
