History TV18 presents 'The World Wars'

The lesson of all wars is that history repeats itself. The year 2014 marks 100 years since the beginning of the World Wars, a 30-year bloody continuum that spread from Europe to the entire globe. HISTORY TV18 examines the two wars as one continuous timeline, starting in 1914 and concluding in 1945 with a special six-part series ‘The World Wars’. For the first time in India, the series will exclusively premiere on the newly launched HISTORY TV18 App on 4th August, one week prior to its television premiere on 11th August, Monday-Saturday at 9:00 pm.

THE WORLD WARS tells the story of three devastating decades of war told through the eyes of the powerful men who held the fate of humankind in their hands; men like Roosevelt, Hitler, Patton, Mussolini, Churchill, Tojo, DeGaulle and MacArthur. The series examines the two wars with these unique individuals coming of age in World War I before ultimately making some of the toughest decisions in the history of mankind in World War II. Before they were giants, they were infantrymen and privates in WWI, mired first in the trenches at Ypres and the Somme, and then years later, fighting on the very same ground in the Battle of the Bulge. The lessons they learnt on the frontlines shaped them as they rose to power— and haunted them as the deadly fighting broke out again. Some became heroes, forged in courage under fire. Others emerged as the most infamous villains the world has ever seen.

Narrated by two-time Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Town), this series features gripping dramatic scenes, stunning CGI visuals and interviews with contemporary leaders, including John McCain, Colin Powell, John Major and David Miliband, along with noted historians from around the world. The World Wars is a mini-series event that will take viewers on an epic and groundbreaking ride through the bloodiest century in history.
