They just launched a new India marketing campaign emphasising the benefits of developing an Internet presence to make businesses ‘visible’ throughout the world, regardless of size or location. It aims to encourage and empower more female entrepreneurs to go online and expand opportunities. The female heroine in the new campaign is shown wandering a crowded, colourful market area in Jaipur.
In conversation with Adgully, Nikhil Arora, Vice President & Managing Director, GoDaddy India, speaks at length about how the web hosting industry is going forward and serving with best customer experience, as well as their recent campaign empowering women entrepreneurs.
How has the web hosting industry performed in the past few years, and especially during the pandemic period? The pandemic has brought in a shift in consumer behaviour and preferences. Have you noticed that in this category? Please share some of the trends that you have noticed.
According to Fortune Business Insight, the global web hosting services market is projected to grow from $83.99 billion in 2021 to $267.10 billion in 2028 at a CAGR of 18.0%. With technology advances and increased Internet penetration, web hosting offers opportunities across all sectors to develop digitally. Elements such as technological developments, innovations, and the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the need for many small businesses to go online. GoDaddy helps web developers and web designers create, manage and grow their business, and their clients’ online presence, alongside its Websites + Marketing, which helps entrepreneurs get online quickly and grow their business.
The June 2021 Global Consumer Insights Pulse Survey documents a significant shift to purchasing online buying as people were confined at their homes in lockdowns and then many worked from home.
How do you put technology into web solutions? How are you leveraging technology to stay ahead in the race and give your clients better services and adding value to their investments?

How has GoDaddy’s growth been in the Indian market? What kind of reach do you have in rural and urban markets in India?
According to a study by Nielsen, there are 352 million Internet users in rural India, which is over 20% more than in metropolitan areas. The study also found that over 60% of rural residents are not actively utilising the Internet, GoDaddy has a presence across India, and supports everyday entrepreneurs.
GoDaddy wants to support and enable small businesses and entrepreneurs in Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities across India to realise the benefits of being online by empowering entrepreneurs and making opportunity more inclusive for all. We also aim to further encourage Indian entrepreneurs to build a complete online business solution and successfully manage and grow their online business with GoDaddy.
What has been your overall marketing strategy to grow your business and how do you engage with your audiences on a continuous basis offering them your trusted platform?
For our India marketing campaign this year, we decided to use a range of media, advertising, and marketing channels, including TV, social, and other digital channels to maximise our reach with a variety of audiences.
Through our multilingual local marketing campaigns in India, we are working hard to help inform people about the importance of building a business website and how GoDaddy can help them grow their businesses into successful online ventures. Our strategy has always been to inspire small business owners and entrepreneurs in the country to create a complete online presence for their business. And to highlight our continued commitment to support the growth of our partner ecosystem, by empowering them with the right online products and solutions to quickly adapt to the changes in the business environment. Our objective is to increase online adoption by spreading this message through the channels that our target audience uses.
Tell us about GoDaddy’s new marketing campaign and how it aims to empower more women entrepreneurs to go online and make opportunities more inclusive? What shift in behaviour have you observed among women entrepreneurs in the past 2 years?
In our latest campaign, GoDaddy focuses on the benefits of creating an online presence to make business ‘visible’ around the globe, irrespective of the size and the location. The campaign strives to inspire and empower more women entrepreneurs to go online and make opportunities more inclusive. The TVC highlights how GoDaddy is a one-stop solution and a leading provider of online tools and solutions for small businesses. The campaign further reiterates GoDaddy’s mission to give our customers the tools, insights, and support to transform their ideas into reality.
Post the pandemic, many women-owned small businesses changed their business models, introducing new goods and services, expanding their use of digital channels for sales and delivery, and refocusing on supply chains, marketing, and sales.
With rapid digitisation, GoDaddy encourages business owners to think about new ways to be discovered by customers as they build a website and create an online presence for their business. The campaign seeks to raise awareness with India’s SMBs and MSMEs on the importance of having an online presence. We want to encourage women entrepreneurs to take the first steps in entrepreneurship and make an impact in their local area and around the world.
