How marketers are leveraging the 66th Independence Day!

India will soon be ushering in the the dawn of our 66th Independence. This year 15th August 2012 is all set to capture the hearts of its people in different ways. Everybody, be it media, brands, radio or television are trying to attract audiences. There are advertisements  galore all aound us which can make this independence day a special one.
 
An array of TV channels are trying to woo audiences  by airing shows with a  patriotic fervor. NDTV will be airing a special episode called Jai Jawan special with actress Deepika Padukone. This show portrays  another side of the actress where she interacts with jawans of the Tank Regiment and the J& K Rifles in Jammu. She is very impressive with her different feats such as jumping over a six feet wall, riding a menacing T72 tank, using the rifle to display her talents and also playing basketball with the soldiers.
 
The soldiers too reciprocate to entertain her with a special show put up for her benefit. So do not forget to tune in to DTV India at 2.00pm and 9.30 pm on 15th August 2012.
 
Artistes of TV channel  SET  go down memory lane and recount how they spent their childhood day on this special occasion and wht this day means to them. Artistes like Ashish Kapor aka Sahil from Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage (LMYAM) said that he would normally go to India Gate to see the parade on this day. He is also of the opinion that every Indian should respect his motherland and this can improve the state of affairs in this country. Mohit Malhotra aka Kartik of Bade Achche lagte Hain says he dreams of a corruption free India and this can help the country move in a positive direction. TV channel Sahara One is in a patriotic mood and has planned to air programme called ‘Yaadon Aur Chahaton Ke Darmiyaan’. It is a unique musical entertainment show which will offer viewers a chain of classic melodies to create an aura of nostalgia. It will stir the emotions of every Indian and also pay a rich tribute to younger generation freedom fighters such as Ashfaqullah Khan and Shahid Bhagat Singh. Do not forget to tune in at 11am and 11.30pm  and also to Filmy channel at 10.30 & 2.00pm to watch the same. Colors channel too follows suit and will be airing ‘Comedy Ka Jashn- Hasne Ki Azaadi’ at 1.00pm on 15th August to showcase a dance and comedy extravaganza that brings together Bollywood stars and TV celebrities. This show intends to encourage viewers to break their somber mood and instead smile more from this Independence Day onwards. Sony PIX is ushering in Independence day  with rich tributes to our Mahatma Gandhi. They have put together  a study guide of the Father Of the Nation which will help children and grown ups to understand him better and have also organized a quiz which will enable one to reflect and learn the true meaning of his ideologies.
 
Asianet , the TV channel from the south too have lined up special shows for the special day. The variety that they have lined up include culinary shows, movies and quiz shows in keeping with the mood for the day. The quiz features popular playback singers Yesudas and Shwetha Mohan who will participate in the show alongwith anchor Suresh Gopi who will be dressed in the colours of our national flag to make the atmosphere more effective.
 
The Animal Planet channel is airing the exclusive Wildlife Music Video launch this Independence Day. The anthem has been composed by Leslie Lewis and performed by singers Shaan, Mathangi and Monali to commemorate the 66th year of our Independence. It aims to create for viewers India’s rich wildlife , epitomizing their freedom and to help in preserving them too.
 
National Geographic will take a breathtaking journey across the various facades  of India this Independence Day. The journey will cover from bountiful wildlife to magical Bollywood. This programme can be viewed on Colour of India on 15th August 2012 2.00pm onwards.
 
Another very interesting event scheduled for 15th August 2012 is the show that will be put up by te students of Homerton Grammar School, Faridabad this Independence Day. Their main intention is to make people aware of the issues that are still hampering the growth and progress of our country. This they will present through a Dance-Skit as a Flash Mob presentation. This will be held at Crown Interiorz Mall, Mathura Road on 14th & 15th August at 5.30 pm on both days.
 
The radio too is not far behind in lining up special shows for tomorrow occasion. With India stepping into its 66th year of Independence Radio Mirchi India’s number one redio station have come out with an innovative idea. They are collaborating with various Mirchi stations from the North, West, East and south and have recorded Postcards to share about their freedom struggle from their particular states. This effort tries to bring forth the freedom struggle from the diverse regions of India and unite them under a canopy of devotion.. Some of the topics are ‘Dandi March’ in Gujarat, ‘Simon Go Back movement’ in Punjab and ‘Quit India Movement’ in Delhi. The anecdotes for freedom will be played on Radio Mirchi Mumbai and this will make it a most memorable day for the radio station. On the other hand Radio City 91.1 FM too has unique plans for Independence Day. The ‘real’ heroes who risk their lives on our border will speak to the listeners on this day. They will share their experiences with the RJ’s who are visiting the Kargil border. Radio City promises to make this a special occasion by thanking the men who matter, the real heroes.
