How Roposo is powering the creator ecosystem

India’s live commerce space is predicted to reach a gross merchandise value of $4-5 billion by the year 2025. Leading creator-led, live entertainment commerce platform, Roposo, has taken a leap in the live commerce category with live commerce becoming a mainstream opportunity for creators to monetise and for D2C brands in order to build strong consumer connect and base. Roposo is helping to build a strong ecosystem of live streamer community in India in order to drive differentiated live entertainment led shopping experience.

Roposo encourages consumers to undertake spontaneous purchases based on recommendations from their favourite creators, enabling D2C labels to create brand value, loyalty and affinity amongst its users, bringing these D2C brands and products directly to the consumer in an entertaining and fun way, driven by their faith and trust in the creator or celebrity. For D2C brands, a creator-led live entertainment platform is a ‘must-have’, provided they are seeking to reach out to their target groups including Gen-Z and the millennials.

Engaging with the audience on live commerce and promoting a product, helps the brands to be discovered by millions of people. Adgully spoke to some Roposo creators – Ash Daniel, Vinayak Sinha, Swaroop Pandey, Tanvee Kishore, Kritika Gambhir – to know more about ‘How Roposo is helping budding creators to become pan-India stars through initiatives such as LIVE Streamer Fest. Excerpts:

How did you start your journey as a content creator/ live streamer on Roposo?

Ash Daniel: I began my journey with Roposo around two years ago, when I was posting mainly short videos. However, ever since Roposo launched the live format and became a creator-led live entertainment commerce platform in October last year, I began doing a lot of live shows on Roposo. I must say that Roposo has provided me a new avenue to showcase my talent in front of a live audience. What’s more is that they give me a potential access to more than 120,000 viewers, which is more than double the crowd that gathers at a stadium like Eden Gardens! Not only that, Roposo is also helping me grow as a creator and provide me with various opportunities. In fact, I began as a musician on Roposo, and I used to stream music shows on the platform, however, I am now also hosting live shows across categories, which allows me to engage and interact with my audience, increasing my visibility and fanbase.

In fact, I am told I have the highest share rate on Glance and Roposo in over last month! I believe Roposo not only values my creativity, but also my opinions and they consider my suggestions and motivate me to do better every single time. My journey with them has been very fulfilling. We had the Roposo LIVE Streamer Fest recently in Mumbai which was a great way to meet the top Roposo live streamers along with the company leadership. We enjoyed our work being appreciated and felicitated as we all celebrated together and had an insightful session on live streaming by international trainer.

How do you come up with the content for a live show on the Roposo platform?

Kritika Gambhir: It’s been a year since I’ve been doing live shows on Roposo, and undoubtedly, the platform is becoming a pop-culture destination of choice for the Gen-Z, with a high level of engagement from the audience’s end. In order to keep the audience engaged and entertained, that too in a live format, the content team and live streamers like me plan the show in advance, detailing out our content after considering the preferences of the audience as well as past engagements.I must mention that I get a lot of support from Roposo to come up with creative ideas for my content and they help me with ideas to execute them, as well.

They also provide insights, content support, and visual support that eventually helps me engage with the audience in an even more effective manner. In fact, we recently launched Trending Top 20, a morning show from 7am to 9 am which is an interactive music show during which I sing trending songs to a live audience. The songs are usually those that are trending or are related to the theme and festivities. We conceptualised it together and I get a massive audience, interaction, and engagement during each live show.

What motivates you to create content and look at live streaming as a profession?

Swaroop Pandey: I’ve always loved singing since I was a child, and I've always wanted to share my talent with the rest of the world. Roposo provided me with the opportunity to showcase my skill to millions of its users and I must say it’s a surreal feeling to see your live audience enjoying themselves and expressing it through stickers, comments, and so on. It really motivates me to work harder.

What motivates me even more is having the freedom to choose the content and performance. Roposo, as a live entertainment and commerce platform, is extremely helpful in providing us with tips to improve our performance and is very receptive of our ideas. The scale and reach of Roposo is massive with over 600,000 people tuning in for live shows (which is likely to be more than 1.5 times the peak audience of any leading international music festival) motivates us as well!

You started your career with films, but have transitioned to being a content creator or live streamer. Could you tell us about your journey from movies to creating content on Roposo?

Tanvee Kishore: As an actor and a livestreaming creator, your life is very different. I enjoy interacting with people, particularly live audiences, sharing my ideas, and, most importantly, being myself. This can be difficult when you are a film actor because you are constantly in the public eye, and you are expected to conduct yourself in a certain manner. Being a live streamer on Roposo has been a great move for me for more reasons than one. Having lived the life of an actor since I was a teenager, I felt I was missing out on what I actually enjoy, which is creating content and interacting with audiences while showcasing my personality, that too live, and the things I love to discuss.

Today, the shows I’ve done on Roposo have been so satisfying and enriching for not only my mind, but also my personality. I wouldn’t be wrong if I said I’m more excited for my Roposo show than for a film meeting or a screen test. That is the kind of joy it brings me!

When did you know that you want to be a content creator?

Vinayak Sinha: A few years ago, I completed my Master’s in Filmmaking and started my career as a creative director. At that point, I was generally behind the camera and that continued for a long time. One fine day, I just thought about the reason why I was not in front of the camera and why am I not creating content. That’s when I decided to be a content creator and I am really happy today that I took that decision, especially when I see creator-led live entertainment commerce platforms like Roposo. I believe this will surely help me grow not only as a creator, but as a professional too!

How is Roposo helping all of you become pan-India creators?

Vinayak Sinha: One of Roposo’s most significant advantages is its scale and integration with the Glance Lock Screen. Roposo is building the biggest eco-system of live streamers – offering them massive scale with access to millions of users and helping them with different opportunities to become creator-preneurs. The users have highly differentiated access to content and live shows on a daily basis, in any part of India. This unique proposition enables us to reach a diverse audience across India, allowing us to connect and interact with them directly in real time, and thereby becoming known faces across India. The recent Roposo LIVE Streamer Fest was also a great experience for all of us as content creators and live streamers.

Tanvee Kishore: When you are an artist from a specific city and have fans or followers who relate to you because you are from that city or state, your reach gets limited. However, as a Roposo live streamer, we have the opportunity to reach approximately 50 million active users from various Indian states and cities at the same time. Roposo is also building the largest eco-system for its live streamers with an aim to have 1,000 top live streamers in 12 months or so. This is extremely encouraging for content creators across and makes us part of a premium live streamer community. And this is not limited to just India, it opens doors for us to become popular and famous with opportunities to showcase our talent globally as well in the future. This truly motivates me and has helped me become a pan-India creator with people across the country recognising me, whenever I step out.

Kritika Gambhir: All of Glance’s live entertainment and live commerce content is enabled and powered by Roposo, and it has its own tab on the Glance lock screen which has access to millions of users. Even in India, Roposo users are not limited to metros, but there are users from Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities like Surat, Indore and others. These two factors help us to engage with a large number of people from across India at once, and that in turn helps us become pan-India creators.

Roposo currently has approximately 500 live streamers, 600 live shows every month with 6 million watch hours, 2,000 + hours of live streaming, 225 million views and 50 million active users.
