I&B approaches Trai for help!

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has approached Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) for help on the number of the channels to be allowed in the country.

At present there are 454 channels that have been approved to be broadcast in the country. As per reports, the I&B Secretary has written to the chairman of TRAI on whether there should be additional qualifications for channels to enter the space.

The ministry is taking the views from the regulator to know as to how many players should be given licenses, and if there is a need to curb it or not.
