“I salute scientists and doctors for serving people during COVID-19 pandemic": Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu

The Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, on Wednesday saluted Indian scientists, doctors and frontline health workers for serving Indian people during COVID-19 pandemic.

"The COVID-19 pandemic affected everyone, be it mentally or physically. Many people went into depression, while some unfortunately succumbed to deadly virus. But we, as a nation, came together to do our bit. Indian scientists stepped up and manufactured India-made vaccines which is a remarkable achievement. I salute them." he said.

"Doctors and frontline health workers made a lot of sacrifices but steadfastly served the people. They all did an excellent job in fighting the pandemic. I salute them," he added.

He was speaking at an unveiling of ‘Sanjeevani – The Journey’, a documentary on ‘Sanjeevani - A Shot Of Life’ by Network18, a CSR initiative of Federal Bank, which aimed to create awareness around COVID-19 vaccinations and mobilize efforts to ensure that every Indian is vaccinated.

The Vice President also underlined the significance of the media in spreading awareness about health-related issues. "An initiative such as this requires commitment, conviction and passion. This campaign is praiseworthy as it removed misgivings about COVID-19 vaccine from the minds of people at a time when they had doubts about it," he said.

"Reaching out to people and educating them about these issues is the responsibility of the government. But media organisations can play a more proactive role in spreading awareness about health-related issues for the larger good of the country," he concluded.
