IAA Leadership Awards: Concludes cheerily
The International Advertising Association’s (IAA) India Chapter announced the institution of the IAA Leadership Awards on 2nd February 2013, to honour individuals in the fields of marketing, advertising and media. Celebrating innovative thinking and performance excellence, the awards indirectly aimed to acknowledge the fact that the disciplines of marketing, advertising and media have to come together for a brand’s success. The awards ceremony covered categories across marketing, advertising and media, bringing the who’s who of the corporate world under one roof.
IAA had roped in marketing research company A C Nielsen to conduct the nomination and final selections process, while Ernst & Young audited and validated it.The award function was hosted by well known television artist Mini Mathur along with IAA’s India chapter president Srinivasan K Swamy and Colors CEO Raj Nayak. The IAA India chapter awarded the first ever IAA Hall of Fame award to Pradeep Guha,Managing Director, 9X Mediaand MD Sam Balsara , Chairman, Madison World was crowned as the Media Agency Head of the Year.
Manish Tewari, Information and Broadcasting Minister was the chief guest of the evening. He said in his note, “I am delighted to be present at the IAA Leadership Awards. According to me, these unique awards recognize the efficiency, creativity, talent and hardwork from the media and entertainment industry. In my opinion, the awards were wonderful and I hope it inspired others to create more such platforms.”
The President of International Advertising Association(IAA) ,Srinivasan Swamy, said, “It gives me immense pride to be a part of the team responsible for getting the finest minds from marketing, advertising and media industry under one roof and honor them simultaneously. These awards wouldn't have been possible without the support of the “Soldiers of COLORS". I am very happy the first edition of the IAA ended on a high note.”
The 15 award categories were dedicated to the corporate segment, with four-six nominations in each; five awards were announced on the spot. The awards without nominations included Brand Endorser of the Year (male and female) which was awarded to Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif respectively. Salman Khan bagged maximum endorsements last year and is on a high with brands queuing up to sign him. The award for the Best News Anchor of the Year was won by Rajdeep Sardesai (CNN-IBN), the Best Media Person of the Year went to Shobhana Bhartia (Hindustan Times), and the Best Editor of the Year was bagged by Jaideep Bose (Times of India).Y C Deveshwar won the award for the CEO of the Year while Piyush Pandey, Ogilvy & Mather India won the award for the Creative Agency Head of the Year.
In the Automobile section, the three awardees were, Mayank Pareek of Maruti Suzuki (Marketer of the Year-Passenger vehicles), UT Ramprasad of Tata Motors won the Marketer of the Year-Commercial vehicles, and Anil Dua of Hero MotoCorp received the Marketer of the Year-Two Wheelers award. Apart from these, the other awardees were Sujit Ganguli of ICICI Bank (Marketer of the Year- Banking); Rita Bhattacharya of LIC (Marketer of the Year-Insurance); Amit Syngle of Asian Paints (Marketer of the Year-Household Products); Chandramouli Venkatesan of Cadbury Kraft India (Marketer of the Year-Food and beverages); Arun Srinivas of HUL (Marketer of the Year-FMCG-Personal care); Rahul Saighal of Samsung Appliances (Marketer of the Year-FMCG-Consumer durables); Anuradha Aggarwal of Vodafone (Marketer of the Year-Telecom products); and Manish Kalra of Make My Trip (Marketer of the Year-Travel and hospitality).
