Affiliate marketing is a model of advertising where third party publishers are compensated by a brand in order to generate traffic and nurturing leads for the brand’s products and services. These third party publishers are termed as affiliates. They are paid per sale or per click or impression. Affiliate marketing is a billion dollar industry backed by digital marketing analytics. The Covid-19 pandemic has further led to the growth of online sales as opposed to traditional buying behaviour and hence more acceleration of the affiliate marketing industry. There are three major types of affiliate marketing which are involved affiliate marketing, unattached affiliate marketing and related affiliate marketing. With the growing usage of social media platforms, affiliate marketing has been given a boost.
