ICC World T20 India-Pak match becomes No. 1 TV programme in BARC history

The most anticipated clash of the ICC World T20 created Indian television history as more than half of India tuned in to watch India take on Pakistan on March 19, 2016. The game was the most watched television event in India in the history of BARC since its inception last May.

As per a release issued by Star India, the match between the two arch rivals delivered 83,358 (‘000) average impressions on Star Sports network, including Doordarshan.

ICC World T20, the flagship T20 cricket tourney, recorded an impressive opening with 332 million viewers (All India BARC CS4+) tuning in during the first two weeks of the tournament.

As per BARC ratings for Week 12 (March 19-25) of 2016, the ICC World T20 India match between India and Pakistan on DD National garnered 27,212 (‘000) impressions. Meanwhile, the match between India and Bangladesh garnered 24,278 (‘000) impressions. DD National made an entry in the top 10 Hindi GECs’ list at No. 7, registering a gross viewership of 517,653.

Among the sports channels, it was no surprise that Star Sports 3 and Star Sports 1 topped the charts. While Star Sports 3 led with 906,939 Weekly Impressions (‘000s) sum, Star Sports 1 garnered 724204 Weekly Impressions (‘000s) sum.
