Idea enables the holy dip at Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2016

Simhastha Kumbh Mahaparv is one of the extravagant religious gatherings in India and this year, it is said to attract over 5 crore footprint over a span of one month making it a prefect paradise for brands. Large potential customer base at a single place and repeated visibility makes Kumbh a desired opportunity for marketers.

During this festival, Idea Cellular, the No.1 player in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh region has come up with innovative ideas to engage with consumers, while providing a major problem faced during Kumbh Mela i.e. people going missing. Idea is providing customized water-proof tags for visitors with their names and numbers written on them. These tags will prove to be very helpful in providing easier identification for the attending children who could possibly get separated from their families in the large crowds of the mela. This unique service is beneficial to the attendees since they do not carry their mobile phones on their way to and from the holy dip; the information on these tags will come in handy in case of any untoward incidences. These tags have been distributed to the attendees in large quantities with state police joining the effort.

Ensuring safety, Idea has tied-up with State and District and is helping Ujjain Police by putting up traffic barricades on all major roads leading to Ujjain. These barricades have also been put on the ghats of river Kshipra to manage the movement of vehicles and people.

Idea has also made recharge coupons available at most retail counters, even extending its reach to many non-telecom outlets; and has also made necessary arrangements to provide congestion-free network to local as well as in-roamers. To provide services to pilgrims in the Mela Kshetra, Idea has installed 6 stalls in the vicinity, across major sectors.
