When life throws thorns – you hunt for roses. The protagonist from the 2016 period drama of this week’s showcase teaches you just that! &Privé HD, the premium destination for nuanced cinema, is all set to premiere the coming-of-age tale ‘Ithaca’ on Saturday, 21st July at 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Having donned the director’s hat for the first time, actress Meg Ryan also stars in the film along with Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks, Alex Neustaedte, Jack Quaid, Sam Shepard, and Hamish Linklater.

Set in the 1940s California, fourteen-year-old Homer’s life comes to a standstill with the early demise of his father. The young boy is forced to deliver messages of heartbreak to families of soldiers fighting in the war in Europe while his own brother Marcus is sent overseas. Meanwhile, Homer must also look after his widowed mother, played by Ryan herself, and his 4-year-old brother Ulysses. He lives with the hope of hearing from his older brother at war until one fine day when one message changes his life forever. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning author, William Saroyan's 1943 novel, The Human Comedy, Ithaca narrates the story of a young boy name Homer Macauley (Alex Neustaedter) who learns the harsh realities of life when he becomes a telegraph messenger in his hometown of Ithaca.

What news does life have in store for Homer?
