Fox Traveller Diaries (FTD): If there is one place you can keep going back to for a holiday, where would it be?

Piyush Jha (PJ): New York

FTD: Tell us three good things about travelling.

PJ: You feel a sense of freedom. Just seeing something new in front of one's eyes refreshes the brain. You get a lot of exercise.

FTD: When you travel, what is a must carry for you?

PJ: A camera, otherwise I can do without everything else.

FTD: When and where did your best holiday happen?

PJ: In Venice, Italy with my wife as a pre-honeymoon :)

FTD: As a traveller, what’s your tip for the others?

PJ: Immerse yourself in what you see around you rather than trying to force your habits on the environment.

FTD: A colleague/co-worker from your industry with whom you would like to go on a holiday.

PJ: Any good musician. So that he/she can play his instrument as background music to what I shall see.

FTD: Have you ever been surprised by the taste of food, outside India? Where?

PJ: In New York and Toronto while eating Ethiopian food that is very popular there.

FTD: What and where has been your best bazaar bargain so far?

PJ: A pair of shoes that I bought for $5 in New York.

FTD: Which has been the most unique destination that you ever visited. When and why?

PJ: The Lake District in England. Home of the poet William Wordsworth.

FTD: Tell us how have you managed to make a journey fun.

PJ: I play music and try to match it in my mind as the right background music to what I see.

FTD: A gourmet gaffe that you would like to share.

PJ: My wife and I ate a 4 hour long lunch and missed our train.

FTD: What has been your worst travel moment? Why?

PJ: When I had to have a bath in a bucket of dirty water deep in the heart of the Bhamragarh forest in Maharashtra.

FTD: What is the best souvenir you ever bought for anyone?

PJ: Hand painted Ganpati pictures on old Court Stamp Paper found in Cochin.
