India looks to better record as APAC Tambuli Awards 2015 announces call for entries

Asia’s leading awards platform on integrated marketing communications and societal values, the Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards has announced the call for entries. Into its ninth year, the Awards honor brands that deliver results in the marketplace and promote social good. What makes it unique is that it is the only distinctive award globally that recognizes social good marketing and effectiveness.

Last year, the Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards received a total of 364 entries from 9 countries; from which 52 were declared winners. Where India was concerned, the only major winner was Lowe Lintas + Partners that was declared the Effectiveness Creative Agency of the Year and also won 6 other trophies on the awards night including a Grand Prix. The other participating agencies from India that won last year include Ogilvy & Mather India that won a single Gold for Lifebuoy Roti and Digital Law & Kenneth Saatchi & Saatchi India that won a Bronze for Half Stories – The journey of doing right.

This year, Rohit Jawa, Chairman & CEO of Unilever Philippines has been appointed the Overall Jury President for Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards 2015. The members who have been appointed on the Executive Jury include Charles Cadell, Asia-Pacific President, McCann Worldgroup; Rupen Desai, Asia-Pacific President, Lowe & Partners; Dick Van Motman, Chairman & CEO at Dentsu Aegis Network South East Asia; John Miller, Chairman & CEO Nestle Philippines; Fred Uytengsu, Chairman & CEO Alaska Corporation; Gabby Lopez, Chairman, ABS CBN Network; Sandy Romualdez-Prieto, President & CEO, Philippine Daily Inquirer; and David Guerrero, Chairman & Chief Creative Officer, BBDO Guerrero Inc.

Sharing his observations on Tambuli as an awards property and what he expects out of participating countries for 2015, Jerry Kliatchko, Dean, School of Communication, University of Asia & the Pacific and Organizer, Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards said, “We hope to get increased participation from the region, especially from new markets that we have tapped this year, namely China, Korea, and Japan. At the same time, we bank on strengthening the continued support of agencies and clients from countries like India, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines, that have espoused the cause of the Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards through the years, that is, the belief that brands that do good and inspire purpose, inevitably build strong businesses."

To participate, agencies will have to submit their entries online at www.tambuliawards.asia. The online entry form containing all the instructions is also to be filled out from the website. Only materials released between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014 are qualified to enter.

The winners will be chosen using the following criteria: 50% for effectiveness and 50% for societal values. Entries for the Tambuli Awards need to be submitted by March 25, 2015.

Organized by the School of Communication of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P), the Tambuli Awards is inspired by UA&P's vision to develop whole-person leaders who take initiative in the benefit of individuals, communities, and the greater good. Some of the top winners in 2014 include: Smart Txtbks, DM9 Jayme Syfu, Smart Communications Inc. that won the Carmencita Esteban Platinum Award; Lowe Lintas + Partners India that won the Effectiveness Creative Agency of the Year; Unilever India that won Effectiveness Advertiser of the Year and Chloe Alsop, Metro Trains Melbourne that won the Asia-Pacific Tambuli Chief Marketing Communications Officer of the Year award.
