INS to debar erring members not adhering to its rules from MRV system for 6 months

The Executive Body of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) has once again reiterated that it stands by its decision not to extend DAVP/ BOC rates for PSUs or autonomous bodies’ advertisements, if released by DAVP/ BOC or other agencies.

Similarly, if the advertisement of any ministry is released through an agency, it will not be accepted at DAVP rates.

INS has urged its member publications to stand united in this regard and show their solidarity.

With regard to monitoring of outstanding dues trough the MRV system, INS is a notice issued its member publications said, “When Notices of Disaccreditation (NOD) are issued on agencies, this severely impacts the business of other publications as members are obliged not to grant credit facility to advertising agencies under NOD. Similarly, when Notices of Disaccreditation are withdrawn due to wrong reporting by publications in MRV, it reflects very poorly on member publications and is very embarrassing for the society.”

INS further noted that despite the various decisions of the Executive Committee being conveyed to its members from time to time, several member publications were not adhering the Executive Committee’s decisions. Hence, the INS Executive Committee, in its meeting held on February 12, 2021, decided that member publications not abiding by the norms, decisions and rules laid down by the society will be debarred from the MRV system for six months in the first instance and in the event of repetition of such act/s, for a period of one year.
