Instagram brings Anti-Abuse features

As social media rage becomes a thing, Instagram announced new features to tackle this and help in protecting the people from the abuses. The social media platform has added the feature to limit comments and the direct message requests, while there is a hike in increased attention on the user. Whenever someone tries to post a potentially offensive comment, Instagram will issue stronger warnings.

The ‘Limits’ feature will help users to hide comments and DM request, automatically from unknown people or people who don't follow you or recently became a follower. Users can enable this feature from privacy settings.

The App already offers a feature, ‘Hidden Words’ which enables you to filter offensive words, phrases and emojis into a hidden folder that can be opened on your wish. Spam requests will automatically get filtered. Although this feature is available to only free countries now , it will be made available to the world by the end of the month.

The Facebook owned company also upgraded the list of possible potential list of offensive words, emojis and hashtags that gets filtered.
Company claims to have warned about a million times a day to people in average, who were involved in posting offensive comments, of which about 50% turned to be changed or deleted after the warnings.
