Instagram's new feature reminds users to step away from scrolling

Instagram being the most used app is now testing a new feature called ‘Take a Break’, which will enable users to set reminders to step away from scrolling the app after a certain period of activity for 10, 20 or 30 mins.

This new option will be prompted on some of the users profile reminding them to stop scrolling for better time management. Take a Break also enables users to select a time period for a reminder to take a break from the app.

Adam Mosseri said: "We started testing a new feature called “Take a Break” this week. This opt-in control enables you to receive break reminders in-app after a duration of your choosing. When you receive a break reminder, we’ll suggest you close Instagram and provide expert-backed tips on what you can do during the break."

"Supporting peoples' well-being is a priority for us - and giving people ways to manage their time in a way that's intentional and meaningful is one way we're thinking about that."

"I’m excited to dig into the test results, make improvements and hopefully launch this sometime in December", he added.

While this is a great move by the social media giant, it is also beneficial for users to get more positive about the updates that Instagram is giving for their betterment and an end to mindless scrolling.

This will also help children to get away from Instagram's harmful content through the nudge and help reduce the harm it allegedly causes children on its platforms which will create a great impact on the users.
