Instagram Tests New Comment 'Limits' to Combat Online Abuse

Instagram is set to release a new update on its app to tackle online bullying and abuse. This option will “limit” the actions of a group of users, unlike its “restrict” tool that allows muting and restricting individual accounts.

However, this is only visible to some users when they head to the Privacy settings that temporarily limit interaction from groups that they choose. These groups would be recommended by Instagram based on previous interactions and activity of the user’s account.

Users can choose to limit interactions from accounts that don’t follow them or are new followers to combat the effect of frequent “Cancelling” online that leads to groups targeting an individual and hurling abuses towards them.

However, this is just a test, and only the users who are a part of the test pool can access this update.
