International lingerie brand Wacoal' reaches Indian shores

‘Wacoal’, a global leader in the luxury ‘lingerie’ market is all set to increase its global footprint with its entry into the Indian market. Wacoal India Private Limited is a joint venture between Wacoal International Hong Kong Co. Ltd. and Periwinkle Fashions Private Limited, a major fashion business company, home to popular brands which include the likes of Samsonite, Lavie and Accessorize. Throughout their integrated processes and research, the brand aims to continue giving first priority to women’s values and individuality to become a company loved by women worldwide.

Established in 1949 with a global presence in over 66 countries and regions, including North America, Europe, and Asia, the Wacoal brand aims to consolidate its international presence for the Wacoal Group. The Wacoal Brand will be launched in India on 20th April, 2015 and will be headquartered in Mumbai. Wacoal has a strong presence in leading US markets and Asian markets like Japan, Korea, 

Taiwan, Thailand, China and so on. The renowned brand has established a significant presence in the European market as well. In India Wacoal’s major competitors would include the likes of renowned labels like LaSenza, Marks and Spencer, Triumph.

With an investment of 100 million INR, Wacoal would be entering the Indian innerwear market which is worth 170,000 million INR. By collaborating with Periwinkle Fashions Private Limited, the brand will be offering high value products to Indian women with Wacoal’s promise of strong customer service and utilizing Periwinkle’s sales network and marketing know-how. Priced between 2000 INR and 4000 INR, the brand would be available in exclusive brand outlets in major metro cities including, Mumbai and Delhi to begin with.

Initially, the brand is all geared to open exclusive stores in key metros like Mumbai & Delhi in July, 2015. The brand shall also be made available on popular E-Commerce routes and department stores very soon.
