IRS 2013 report remains in limbo!

The Indian Readership Survey (IRS) recently elicited strong criticism from print publishers.  Hence an urgent meeting was held by the Media Research User Council on 19th February 2014 to resolve issues faced by the IRS.

It was then decided that the subcommittee responsible for the revalidation process would submit recommendations to Readership Survey Council of India (RSCI) during the first week of April 2014.

The RSCI Managing Committee and MRUC Board met on 31st March to consider the preliminary report of the sub-committee which was appointed by them to critically assess the Indian Readership Study 2013.

Their release issued in this regard states, “RSCI and MRUC accepted the finding of the sub-committee that the methodology and process adopted were robust. They approved the recommendation of the sub-committee that the revalidation and audit of field work by a third party commence immediately and completed within four to six weeks.”

It was also confirmed at the meeting that the IRS 2013 report would remain in abeyance until the process undertaken is completed.
