8 magazines stem reducing trend in magazine readership

India Today along with 8 other magazines stemmed the reducing trend in magazine readership, as per the IRS 2019 Q4 report. These include The Sportstar, General Knowledge Today, Diamond Cricket Today (English), Ananda Vikatan, Champak (Hindi), Filmfare (English), Balrama, and Kumudam.

Magazines read in the last 1 month remained steady at 5 per cent over the last 3 quarters – Q2, Q3 and Q4.

India Today (English) garnered Total Readership (TR) of 9,493,000 in IRS 2019 Q4, compared to 9,243,000 in Q3, and continued as the most read magazine. However, the Hindi edition of India Today saw a slide in TR at 6,641,000 in Q4 from 7,027,000 in the previous quarter.

The other English magazines that saw growth include The Sportstar, General Knowledge Today and Filmfare. Placed at No. 6, The Sportstar garnered TR of 3,850,000 in IRS 2019 Q4, as against 3,796,000 in Q3. General Knowledge Today is placed in the 8th spot, reporting TR of 3,726,000, as against 3,670,000 in the previous quarter. English monthly Filmfare is placed at No. 13, garnering TR of 3,058,000, up from 2,881,000 in Q3.
