It’s The Summer of Queerly Beloved- Tinder

This May, the world’s most popular dating app, Tinder, in collaboration with Gaysi, is hosting a Queer Mixer, as part of the recently launched Tinder Mixers for singles. Tinder has always supported its members’ freedom to explore their individuality and to be their authentic self in the app and IRL. These recently launched curated mixers help members discover something new or fun as well as interact with others who share similar interests or curiosity to be a part of such experiences

With more than half of Tinder members globally being Gen Z, and as the most fluid of any generation ever, Tinder has revealed its LGBTQIA+ member base has grown at twice the rate of its overall base, and that non-binary is the No. 1 “more genders”  ï¸‍  choice in the app.

25 year old, Mumbai-based Ananya shares, “As a straight-passing queer woman, I was not sure how to meet other queer women. Dating apps like Tinder and these mixers are helping me put myself out there and connect with people, who otherwise I wouldn’t know where to meet. In fact, the most magical first  date I’ve ever been on was through Tinder, we both eventually moved to different countries, but are still in touch and remain great friends all these years later.”

GenZ are picking more interesting, unique first date activities that help them really get to know each other.  Tinder saw a 2X* increase in mentions of ‘long walks’ in bios and requests for date activities from cycling to taking a pottery class. Giving GenZ a choice for experiential and unique first dates, Tinder’s Queer mixer is all about interactive games, musical performances by Indie Artists; Saachi and Gaia Meera with Saumya Vohra as the host. It’s definitely not usual your straight night out, so queer your schedules to be there on the 29th of May, from 5pm-11pm, at the Pioneer Hall, Bandra, Mumbai. ‍️‍️

A few fun facts you probably didn’t know

  • Did you know that Tinder was the first mobile dating app to expand gender identities on the app and  be more inclusive of people of marginalized genders  in 2016
  • The app has over 50 gender orientations for their users to identify with
  • Tinder also runs The Museum of Queer Swipe Stories ; a curated archival project that seeks to collect the many moods, experiences, and complexities of queer dating.

It’s the summer of love kinda vibe  and Tinders’ only tip to you- find your match by being your authentic self, and who knows what that match might turn into….
