It’s ‘Thums down’ as Coca Cola and Salman Khan part ways

Salman Khan has been dropped as the brand ambassador for Coca Cola’s beverage brand Thums Up, which the Bollywood star has been endorsing for the last four years. According to media reports, Coca Cola is in talks with Ranveer Singh as the new brand ambassador for Thums Up.

In a statement issued yesterday, Coca Cola stated, “Salman Khan was committed to an existing relationship with a daily TV show, which this year happens to be sponsored by a brand that competes with the Coca-Cola India product portfolio. In light of this, both parties have mutually decided not to renew their current contract.”

The contract between Coca Cola and Khan came to an end last month.

As is known, Khan is the host for ‘Bigg Boss’, which recently went on air with its 10th Season. Parle Agro’s beverage brand Appy Fizz is the main sponsor for ‘Bigg Boss Season 10’.

Khan was first roped in as brand ambassador for Thums Up in the early 2000s. Akshay Kumar was then brought in as the brand ambassador for the beverage brand in 2004. Khan was back as the brand endorser in 2012.
