Jimmy Mogal joins Rediffusion/Edelman as National Director

Edelman India has announced the appointment of Jimmy Mogal as National Director of Rediffusion/Edelman to head the Tata business, effective immediately. Mogal will replace Roger Darashah who has led the Rediffusion/Edelman team for three years and will be moving to a new international assignment for Edelman in South America at the end of the year. Mogal will lead a strong team of senior and seasoned professionals working on Corporate, Consumer, Technology, Public Affairs as well as media and market research mandates for the various Tata businesses across the firm’s eleven offices in India. He will report to Rakesh Thukral, Managing Director of Edelman India.

He has been an inspiring leader; driving creative programming for various campaigns, and guiding the teams towards success. We wish him success in his new role in South America.”

Speaking on the new appointment, Thukral said, “Jimmy will play an integral role in continuing to build on the operational efficiencies, organizational excellence and creative programming that we have been delivering for the Tata business in the last three years. We are looking forward to his years of experience as a communications specialist working with large Indian, as well as multi-national businesses, to continue to strengthen our relationship with the Tata teams.”

Mogal is an industry veteran with over 25 years of experience in corporate communications, brand & issues management, public affairs and sustainability. His previous assignments in this function have spanned across the core engineering, services, FMCG, power, telecom & infrastructure industry sectors. He has, until recently, served with the major Indian infrastructure company HCC Ltd for over seven years, where he led the corporate communications function for the HCC Group of companies.

Other key roles held by Mogal during his career include leadership stints in corporate communication with Reliance Infocomm Ltd (now RCL), Enron Asia Pacific, The Coca Cola Company upon its re-entry in India and Ogilvy PR.

After receiving a bachelor’s of Engineering (Electronics) from Bangalore University, Mogal began his career as an engineer with Tata Steel’s iron and steel making facilities at Jamshedpur. He was thereafter appointed founder team member of the then newly constituted corporate communication function and went on to serve the global steel major for over nine years.
