Jivo Canola hosts 'The Great Kolkata Walkathon'

Sponsored by JIVO CANOLA OIL, jointly organized by The Delegation for Human Rights, Lions Club of Kolkata and Mother Teresa Sarani in association with Kolkata Police, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and The Art of Living, this 10 km walk titled 'The Great Kolkata Walkathon' will be kicked off from the main gate of the Victoria Memorial Hall at 7:30, and will end at Park Circus Maidan. The walk will cover 2.5 kms. The main aim behind this walkathon is just to change the mindset of the society towards people living with HIV/AIDS and to engage the public towards an HIV/AIDS free India.

Witness a host of celebrities including film stars and sports personalities along with Mr.Gautam Mohan Chakraborty, City Police Commissioner, and Sovon Chattopadhyay, Mayor, Kolkata, walking along with AIDS patients on the streets of Kolkata.

RP Singh Sahni, Chairman, Precision Group which has brought Jivo Canola Oil to Kolkata and eastern India said, "Ten percent of the country's total people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs) in 2007 lived in West Bengal. However, West Bengal is categorized as a low prevalence state but there are pockets of high prevalence, mainly driven by subpopulations that have higher risk of exposure to HIV. So with a hope to minimize the risk of such daunt we are trying to wake up people and making them aware about the issue and its vulnerability."

Showing his concern for the need to engage in such philanthropic activities, he said "JIVO Canola willingly agreed to sponsor such a noble idea. And it is all the more apt that the healthiest cooking Oil known to mankind is now within the reach of Kolkatans". And the mission has been laid to "SIMPLY CREATE A HEALTHY INDIA".
