July 2011 films had the highest Word Of Mouth in 2011: Ormax Study

According to Ormax Media, the July releases in Bollywood have fared the best in terms of their Word of Mouth rating generated by the theatre goers. Four of the five big releases in July had a WOM of 55+, whereas only three before July, in this year, got this rating.

The WOM rating for a film is an indicator of the film's strength to hold on to the box office post the first weekend. A good box office performance of films with a high WOM rating shows that they have not just benefited from their marketing, but have been strongly backed by the audiences too.

The films which had a 55+ WOM this year are:

7-Jan-11, No One Killed Jessica, WOM: 60

3-Jun-11, Ready, WOM: 67

8-Jul-11, Murder 2, WOM: 60

15-Jul-11, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, WOM: 65

Considering the importance of WOM for a film, pre-testing a film can benefit the producers by knowing potential of WOM for their film, thus impacting the marketing and distribution strategies.
