Justice C K Prasad re-elected as Chairman of the Press Council of India

Justice C K Prasad has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Press Council of India for the 13th term. A committee, including Chairman of RajyaSabha (Vice President of India) M Venkaiah Naidu, the speaker of the LokSabha SumitraMahajan and VinayShashrabuddhe MP and BJP Vice President were drawn in the re- election of Justice Prasad.

The Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) has congratulated Justice C K Prasad on getting re-elected for the Press Council of India.

The IFWJ President, K VikramRao, wishes that Justice Prasad would secure amendments to the PCI Act, 1978, to make it more representative and democratic.

The IFWJ bring to mind that eight media organisations had demanded Justice Prasad’s confiscation in early 2018 due to his inflexibility against appointing ineligible candidates for Press Council. Nevertheless, the IFWJ has strongly supported backed Justice C K Prasad.
