Karan Bajaj of WhiteHat Jr has left the company a year after selling to Byju's

WhiteHat Jr's founder and CEO, Karan Bajaj, is leaving the company a year after selling it to Indian edtech behemoth Byju's for $300 million.

In recent months, Byju's has undertaken a number of acquisitions, including Epic, a physical coaching centre chain, and Asian edtech Great Learning, as the Indian edtech behemoth aims to aggressively expand into new regions and diversify its product offerings.

Bajaj and Byju's founder and chief executive Byju Raveendran claimed the departure was a "mutually determined" move taken at the time of the acquisition of WhiteHat Jr. in an email to staff on Wednesday.

“While I wish he would’ve stayed longer, Karan is a force of nature and accustomed to making unconventional choices, as you all know, and I wish him only the best for what will surely be an exciting path ahead,” Raveendran said in an email. Trupti Mukker, who formerly handled WhiteHat Jr's client experience, will now head WhiteHat Jr, according to Raveendran.
