Laura Parkin and Abishek Laxminarayan join GoSports Foundation Trustee Board

Bangalore based sports not-for-profit organization, GoSports Foundation has welcomed two new members to its Trustee Board on July 29th. Laura Parkin and Abishek Laxminarayan - both accomplished professionals with illustrious backgrounds in non-profit administration and sport, join former Olympic swimmer Hakimuddin S. Habibulla and noted sports lawyer, Rhodes scholar and Harvard graduate Nandan Kamath at the helm of the Trustee Board.

Kamath said, "We welcome Laura and Abishek on board and are excited by the role that the GoSports Foundation team can play in shepherding inclusive growth in Indian sport. Our focus is and will remain on athlete empowerment and rights advocacy through our programmes".

So many young athletes in India have the talent, but lack the funding, access and support to succeed. By stepping in, the GoSports Foundation will enable them to realize their dreams - and they in turn will inspire thousands of others to follow in their footsteps", remarked Laura Parkin, emphasizing her commitment to the cause of Indian sportspeople and their development.

A Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University, Laura Parkin is the CEO of the non-profit National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), which she co-founded in 2003 as Executive Director of the Wadhwani Foundation. Additionally, Laura is a serial entrepreneur, having founded four companies, and is an Advisor to Proto.in, the SIDBI Incubator at IIT-Kanpur, as well as Acumen Fund's Water Portfolio.She was also a Vice President at Ashoka, a non-profit that identifies and supports social entrepreneurs in more than 50 countries, and a venture capitalist at Highland Capital Partners, where she invested in early stage health care companies.

Abishek Laxminarayan, co-founder of Indavest Ventures LLC, a US and India based early stage Venture Management company that plays an active management role in each of its portfolio companies, is the other new member. Abishek was a world ranked junior tennis player and a US varsity tennis athlete when he studied at Cornell University.
