LFW Winter/Festive 2012 | Day 1 concludes with the Gorgeous Collection by Pallavi Jaikishan

Celebrating four decades of her success in the business of fashion, Sajala Luxury Villas presented the sensational collection from fashion doyen, Pallavi Jaikishan, which closed Day One at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012. Divided into four segments the dazzling creations for bridal and festive wear ranged from saris to kurtas, jackets, lehengas and anarkalis.

With a stage covered in gorgeous fresh flowers, greenery and the melodious strains of The Strings Quartet playing old classical jazz; the show was a vision of beauty and ultimate craftsmanship.

Sajala – Clouds with a Golden Lining

Pastels ruled the colour palette as real zari weaves twinkled under the arc lights for Upada saris and Kota versions of the same. Keeping the colours soft as a blushing bride, Pallavi chose cream, blush and tinges of cognac and delicate aqua all dappled with burnished gold. The lehengas, saris and jackets created from light as air fabrics, almost floated down the catwalk. Fully encrusted with twinkling zari and heavy borders, the saris and lehengas were teamed with beautifully crafted and embellished cholis.

MANDARA – the mythical tree

For this segment Pallavi used sap green tulle inspired by Mandara the mythical tree and added silver for the floral fantasy she created with embroidery of leaves, pink and coral roses that cascaded down her specially styled lehenga/saris, anarkalis and ghagras. The embroidered bodices of the kurtas, the 3D embellishments on net and the cholis with sexy tie-ups left the audience spell bound.

ELAVIA – a thing of beauty and Grace (Persian)

Here was an offering of the most gorgeous saris that glittered with ornate embroidery drenched in shades of pink, sensational red and vermillion for the resham floral embroidery, which is the hall mark of Pallavi and coveted by her admirers. Splashes of orange blossoms and silver blended seamlessly for the saris and the myriad permutations and combinations of the embroidery were totally mindboggling.

AYIANA –the eternal bloom

The final section was an ode to the bride as regal lehengas shimmered down the ramp in quick succession featuring the beauteous embellishments only Pallavi can create. Heavily encrusted lehengas with rosettes, dupattas edged with gold lace, velvet cholis and bouquets of flowers were amazing in their beauty and intricacy.

The delicate gold lacy hair ornaments were the perfect complement for the gorgeous bridal creations. The finale gold lehenga with a velvet cholis is something that can be created only once in a life time.

To a standing ovation from the adoring audience, Pallavi Jaikishan’s superbly crafted bridal wear presented by Sajala Luxury Villa was what every bride has always desired and dreamt of for her special day.
